We all know the cost of going on a vacation; they are expensive. So, how do you go away for cheap?

The aspect of vacationing appeals to most people and while most long for exotic places, or resort style fun, this isn’t always possible. As well, the worldwide economic problems have us all just a little scared to spend money not knowing what the future will bring.

But, we all need to take a break from the pounding reality of day-to-day stress, to get away from the constant demands made on us by our work environments, and just a break from the daily routine of rising to the sound of an alarm clock. What if, though, you could take a vacation that wasn’t as expensive as you first thought? Would you do it?

Here are a few suggestions that you might want to consider.

The first thing you want to decide is how much time you want off. And, how to take a vacation without costing an arm and a leg is right in your own neighbourhood or home. For those fortunate enough to have a back yard, and if you can wait until it is warm, you have a vacation paradise well in hand. So, schedule your time off, turn off your pager, cell phone, blackberry and put them in a drawer. Nothing is more draining or disturbing is to take a well-earned time off period only to find you enslaved to modern communication devices.

The next thing to do is to get all the supplies you need for whatever period of time you have scheduled. This means that you will not venture away from your backyard or home at any time during your vacation. Part of the joy of a back yard vacation is to avoid stressing yourself by having to go anywhere and face traffic problems, or unnecessary noise stressors.

Now, on the other hand, if you are the type of person or people who just can’t stay still and need to be on the go in order to relax, there is also a solution for you. Over the years, I personally know of hundreds of people who have never taken the time or opportunity to play visitor to their own surrounding area and this includes such things as exploring the sites that usually attract sightseers.

With just a little imagination, cutting yourself off from annoying technology, and enjoying those things that surround you, a cheap and inexpensive vacation is yours to discover.
